It's not all about the battle but this was the easiest way to showcase the level of Hip-Hop this year. Where Hip-Hop is headed for next year...who knows? All I know is it continues on and there really seems to be no end, unlike what everyone thought. This in itself is encouraging and inspiring to no end. The world continues growing smaller, as the Hip-Hop family tree continues to multiply and flourish. It is our duty to contribute, no matter what discipline we pursue. In fact, if you think about it, Hip-Hop is just another testament to just how un-different we are as people, and that to me, is the greatest facet of this immense culture. Much respect to you whether fan or artist. We are all integral to this great legacy, no matter how small your view. "It's bigger than Hip-Hop..." Yes it is.

Sorry folks been in a hectic weekend battle with music and life. I'm back in it and posting will happen this week. A quick thanks for helping me reach 6000 views! Much appreciated! Again, this blog is mine, but I feel a duty to inform my public that I'm open to any ideas, feedback, etc; Please feel free to share links, info, opinions, a kind word or two or whatever you feel. Otherwise, I'll just keep moving along, and trying to share inspiration when I can.

This is my dude Pedigrosso. I recently played with Sax Machine in a low level security prison for their Fete de Musique(or Festival of Music which is both a national and world-renowned event!) Needless to say the initial reaction to our music was a bit less than ideal but by the time we finished, I received Pedigrosso to the stage to represent. That single moment seemed to have cemented the eternal moment when everyone let's down their "guards." Maybe, before this day, I had no idea why I make music, but certainly after, I was immediately reminded how and where the impact of my music can become instantaneously rewarding. I could only forget about what would happen after we left, and be lost in a moment of pure humanity and something along the lines of brotherhood. Scratch that, let's just say being a human being, just for a moment. Anyhow, I thank all those fellows for being brave enough to check us out and hopefully we helped them remember that life has it's downs, BUT also has it's ups. Cimer Pedigrosso et tout L'Equipe!

Most definitely have to shout at my fans in Valenciennes. The day after the prison concert with Sax Machine, my great friend (potes or poto in French) DJ Prof&cy, helped organize my featuring at Valenciennes' Fete de Musique. I would play the Hip-Hop stage along with Feini-X Crew (my dudes who happen to be playing with Pharcyde in Paris soon!), XPose (which includes emcee Eldib, another freaking hard-working friend who has always made me feel more than welcome), DJ Joker, DJ Prof&cy, another three groups which I did not catch the name but they were all good, plus a host of B-Boys and poppers and lockers. The event flashed by so fast I won't linger too long on it, but I did want to acknowledge everyone, and extend a BIG thank you to Rashid (B-Boy AChild of Hot Clan), Nowon of Soul Street, and all who supported for keeping Hip-Hop more than alive and well in Valenciennes.

Signif

I had planned a featuring on SigniF (which I still hope to have up soon) but, with life, you know how it goes. Last few weeks have been eventful to say the least, even a bit hectic at times.
However, that doesn't mean I've lost focus.
Here we have Signif. An emcee originally from Milwaukee (go midwest!) now residing in NY, Signif has begun to cause a stir.
She is currently on here premier european tour; tonight gracing the stage at L'Internaional in Paris, with a live-band backing.

Her subject matter and style are rather refreshing and the production, which provides her backdrop, is well -rooted in classical Boom-Bap style, though that can be argued as it has been craftily translated to now-time status. Honestly, I'd place her in the creme of the crop of today's female-emcees...scratch that let's just say emcees.

I think she will contine to grow her fanbase and please fans, as her momentum continues to take her global!
Shout out to Mad Moizelles for bringing this up and coming artist to Paris!
