Rennes is in northern France. They have saxophones and trombones.

Just got back from up north in Rennes. Fairly good weather and plenty of mental exercise.

Very happy to have become part of this outfit. We've been building and coming up with some great music and chemistry. Not that it wasn't already interesting to say, in the least.

Want to hear more?
Well go ahead with your bad self!

whatever comes. .. ..... .random thoughts on the way to Monpelier.

Always ready to move. Coil, uncoil, direct, motivate, act, and recoil. The cycle continues.
In fact, the process hasn't changed really.
And then again, what really has?

Oh, I am no fan of pointy shoes. Why do you need to restate the obvious? You are traveling in a forward direction, and your toes hurt in those shoes.
Glory holla' stupid, Misses Bob Dobalina. Oooh-oooh...

Random question: Just how much weight do pheromones hold in our everyday? People tend to give the strangest looks at the most random times, and quite often, the receiver is unaware. Nothing like watching life shuffle by at rush hour.

But then, don't get caught staring off into nothing.
Get moving.

Peace and less congestion,

Imperfection is perfect

What would a perfect world be like? What wouldn't you do?
Who would you have to tell?

You would tell everyone and no one.

Who could know where the perfection had come from? I have a feeling it was here all along.
Just that it had to grow big enough for us to notice it.

Peace and Imperfection,
12:51

Contemplations on change and the effects. Sound-words.

You've had the answers all along. So busy, being busy. Too busy, being busy. With such little time invested in manifesting, it's no wonder that it all seems transparent. Living or more-so, just surviving. Better late than never, I and I would say.

As the wonder wanes, you begin to surely materialise what once was not. Led along as if fueled, by an unnameable power. Who could ever imagine what it would feel or sound like to have arrived? But you believe it is so, intensely.

In fact, it would seem that things have changed, haven't they? You weren't really aware were you? Even if you had bothered to look up, you would not have noticed.

Dig in, while it's hot!

TANDEM

My homies at LA BELLE EPOQUE have a great series in production which will turn out to be, in my opinion, one of the best storylines I've seen in awhile. That is without the fact that they used a Langston Bukowski in the trailer. ;)
Langston who?

EYE FOCUS SERIES 2 with OXYGEN

EYE FOCUS SERIES with OXYGEN

Okay, I welcome you back to the second interview in the EYE FOCUS series.

This time we have a brother from the east. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was, at the time, killing it with SPUTNIK BROWN! I was out on tour with PSEUDO-SLANG and we were on the east coast run. I'm not sure how many heads were out that night but the show was just serious. There wasn't one moment I hadn't had that inner b-boy smile, I and I tell you. (You know things are going well, when you have a place to crash for days, and after your rocking show, you get propositioned by females...but that is another story for another time. Hey, I was a moral and smart RacecaR that night, but it still feels good.)
Well as tours go, we had to jump out eventually, but I stayed in contact with OX and we've kinda kept in touch and traded wisdoms. This man has worked with DJ SPINNA. I'm not co-signing but that right there tells you something. A legend in his own right, a dedicated crate digger and DJ, a heckuva emcee, and most importantly a solid person. Without further ado I give you the one and the only OXYGEN.

1a. So OXYGEN, can you give us any background info you want the heads to know about?

OXYGEN: Peace to the world. I go by the name Oxygen. An emcee/DJ/crate digger representing Strong Island, New York. Former host of my own college radio show called "Chemical Breakdowns" (WUSB-FM: University of Stony Brook, NY). I'm a Virgo. I like boomboxes, cassette tapes, Cazals, brass belt buckles, old school flyers, hand held video games, and fly honey dips. Been releasing material on wax since 1988 under the names Jonzhaft The Psychopath, Jon Shaft (with the group Jazz Not Jazz), MC Just Divine, and of course Oxygen. Down with the groups Sputnik Brown, Soundsci, and SPOX PhD along with DJ Spinna. Also involved with two vinyl diggin' collectives: Vinyl Veterans, and one that I started years ago called Crate Invaders.

1. As a digger of the expert caliber, which break do you find has NOT been freaked right?

OXYGEN: Wow, that's a tough one. All the more common breaks have been touched by some of everybody, and usually all flipped a little differently. So I wind up liking at least one of them. I can't say I know of any that hasn't been freaked right to some extreme.

2. One of your most memorable moments in digging/ performing (whichever or both.)

OXYGEN: One of the most memorable moments diggin' would have to be when my man Gensu Dean and I were out scooping up joints one winter around NY City, and I was coming up with the verses to our song "Gone Diggin" as we were hitting up spots. It was BRICK freezing out too! All I know is ideas kept flowing, and I had to keep snatching off my gloves to save some rhymes in the Sidekick. I don't recall finding anything special record wise, but that entire experience was one I'll always cherish. The most memorable performance I'll have to say was Sputnik Brown's show with The Herbaliser at the old Knitting Factory when it was in Manhattan. That was our first time rocking the main stage in there, plus the energy from that crowd was amazing! That was a fun night. Opening up for Public Enemy over in Dresden, Germany back in 2010 was fly too. That was my first trip to Germany. Those kids are live wire out there. My set was a little off-balanced though. I didn't have a DJ or my crew with me out there, so I didn't have my best performance. But still..............rockin' with P.E.? Are you kidding me? Legendary.

3. What is the best vinyl/dessert combination you have experienced (i.e. chocolate ice cream and Apache)?

OXYGEN: Eating warm peach cobbler listening to Rudy Ray Moore's "Eat Out More Often" LP. Gets no better than that, my friends.

3b. Closing statement, shout outs acknowledgements words of wisdom, advice and of course links to music or sites. upcoming projects etc.

OXYGEN: Yeah man, big ups to YOU first and foremost. Thanks for this interview. One love always to my parents. Shouts to everybody that has enjoyed any piece of music I've ever dropped. All the people who encourage me on a regular. I don't want to start naming names because the list is endless, but those who show Ox love you are appreciated to no end. I have quite a few things coming up before this year's out & the start of 2013. Lots of material with my group, Soundsci, the re-release of "Gone Diggin" on Slice Of Spice Records, 12" with Daily Diggers + Vinyl Veterans from the U.K., project with my man Audessey from Soundsci and the beat maker Ill Treats from the U.K., track out now on my man Danny Spice's "A King Amongst Thieves" EP, a 45 out now with J-Zone, Breeze Brewin of Juggaknots and Prince Paul, I have a feature on the upcoming album with Fabreeze Bros. (Phill Most Chill & Paul Nice), another SPOX PhD single on deck. The collab/posse cut with YOU!!! The list goes on and on. Just staying as busy as I could. Final words of wisdom: Do what makes you happy. That's it. Peace.

Oh yes, Pumpkin has made it a Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin - Silence Radio feat. DJ Vadim, Pugs Atomz & DJ Lyrik [Video] from PUMPKIN on Vimeo.

Emcee Pumpkin a premiere lady of the words, i.e. Emcee here in Paris who has come with some heat!

"Silence Radio, the new EP from the silky voiced French-Spanish emcee-poetess Pumpkin, is a contemporary Boom Bap gumbo expertly seasoned to knock out Soul Food connoisseurs of all cuts.  The release was formulated as an intimate storytelling session – packaged in seamless, melodic, and in the original meaning of the word "JAZZ", word acrobatics. Native French speakers will be blessed with layers of subtle wordplay and thoroughly honest musings about this thing we call life. The rest of us will just have to live with the compulsively induced head nods, and a beautiful, hypnotic voice well dipped in all types of blues.

Silence Radio was crafted and finessed by beat smith luminaries such as DJ Vadim, 20syl (Hocus Pocus/C2C), Vin'S da Cuero, Josh Fontan of Beatspoke, Pater Jacob, Supafuh, and DJ Lyrik. It also features a thick host of international vocalists representing the progressive end of the contemporary Hip Hop Paradigm: Metropolis of Foreign Beggars, Ty, Pugs Atomz, and Sarah from Beatspoke.

This EP is definitely a journey – on the surface perfect for a nasty sound system, but it also conceals a depth more than suitable for late night headphone consumption."

Her new release is chock-full of great sounds with an awesome guest list.
A very balanced effort to both think and move your azz to. Plus it's available on physical CD, digi-pack, and limited edition orange colored vinyl!
Come on now, it doesn't get any better!

GET WITH THE PROGRAM HERE:
PUMPKIN-SILENCE RADIO
AND......
Check out this new bonus single featuring everyone's favorite RacecaR with DJ LYRIK on the deadly cuts and VINS DA CUERO on the moving beat. Oh, can't front on Pumpkin bringing a smooth and effective style to the round out a great new release that should have people buzzing!

EYE FOCUS series Numero 1 with MIC JORDAN

EYE FOCUS with MIC JORDAN of TRIBE OF LEVI

FOLLOW MY LEAD - TRIBE OF LEVI LP PROMO
So dope! This begins the first in a series of Q and A's with some of my peers and associates, but more importantly, some real people who have had real influence in my life and in my art. There will be some you may have not heard of before, but they hold a special place in my timeline, and I am certain they will take up some room in your heart mind and soul soon enough from here on out.

I met MIC JORDAN years ago, through BRU LEI in Sacramento, and immediately the vibe was evident. It's been a number of years passed, but we keep in touch every now and then and I continue to be amazed at the quality of work he and his crew put out consistently.
Alright exciting! Let's get it in!

1)Can you give us a beginning, who are you, what crews do you rep.

MIC JORDAN: Peace, I am MICjordan, representing Sacramento hiphop... TPR crew, Tribe of Levi, Secret Recipe, FreexUvNature, Self Mastery Project, Super Smash Bros., and Dank Chamber. I represent probably the best collective of emcees that you haven't heard of... YET.

2)One of your most memorable experiences in Hip-Hop i.e. performance, recording a track, or life in general.

MIC JORDAN: Probably my most memorable experience, certainly the most influential, was helping to run a weekly open mic/Hiphop workshop in Southern Cali while I was in college.
Every day I got to see some of the greatest emcees and b-boys/b-girls do their thing, people like Aceyalone, the Black Eyed Peas (before they went pop, they were amazing), Bboy EZ Roc, Bgirl AsiaOne, Bboy Ivan... as well as less well known but no less influential heads like SeeFor, Kemo, and many many others... just freestyling and indulging their love of the artform and self-expression.
It was the mid to late 90's, a really exciting time for hiphop in general... probably the birth and 'golden era' of so-called 'underground hiphop'.
Being there every week really was my graduate course in hiphop, so to speak.
I would see all these amazing artists and be completely blown away, but over time the conviction that "I could do that too" really crystallized for me.
By the time I graduated, I knew that I was a 'real' emcee.

3)Shout outs, last words, words of wisdom.

MIC JORDAN: Shout out to all my people everywhere, everybody who loves hiphop and genuine self-expression, shout out to my brothers in Tribe of Levi, my mans Bru Lei and Nome Nomadd, Mahtie Bush, the whole TPR crew, Lee Bannon, Akili Beats, Twiz the Beat Pro, Just Plain Ant, Noshes Beats, Styles1001, Westt Kraven and every other producer that's blessed us... and big ups to Kendrick Lamar. Even though I've never met the dude, he's the first new rapper in the past 10 years to really give me that feeling I had in the mid-90s of being so excited about hiphop and feeling like I was hearing something that really represented me.
I hope he helps spark a whole movement back towards ACTUALLY keeping it real, creative, and original.
Really, big ups to that whole camp... Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock... all those guys are killing it just as hard, they just don't have the recognition. Hopefully they'll clear a lane for other artists who are also original, thoughtful, and technically proficient... artists like the ones in my crew!

4)One of the most influential songs in your career.

 MIC JORDAN:
4. Wow, this is hard... it wasn't so much a particular song, but the most influential EMCEE in my career was Kool Moe Dee. Because I always liked rap music as a little kid, but Moe Dee was the one who really showed me that you could really use rap lyrics to explore and analyze the world in a very focused, detailed, intellectual way. It appealed to the way my brain works.
Like, "oh, you can DO something with rap."
The fact that he invented battle rap as we know it, innovated faster cadences and internal rhymes, and made pop hits too... he was kind of like the prototype of KRS-ONE as far as being 'good at everything'.
So, to this day, he's the emcee I model myself after.

Please check out my band page at http://www.reverbnation.com/tribeoflevihiphop, you can also download albums for free at http://micjordan.bandcamp.com/ and http://tribeoflevi.bandcamp.com/ ... and be sure to get the new Tribe of Levi album "Follow My Lead" from I-TUNES or AMAZON... shit, illegally download it if you have to, just bump it and tell a friend!

That's my word. And now we got...
THINGS TO DO

I'm a big fan of this one, so dope. Lyrics for that azz and production to ride over. You can't front!

*NOTE: From MIC JORDAN directly, "Things to do" actually just won the 2012 Sacramento Area Music award (SAMMIE) for 'best video' and Tribe of Levi won the 2012 SAMMIE for 'outstanding hiphop' for the third year in a row... which means we're going to be part of their Hall of Fame and ineligible for further nominations, which is pretty cool..."
That's is like almost the equivalent of the Rock Steady Crew DJ's back in the day. A hearty and well-deserved congrats to TRIBE OF LEVI for such a tremendous feat and for a very inspirational song. I check this one out at least every three months. Replay value nowadays is becoming rare, but you can see why. Quality is invaluable.
ALMOST FORGOT!
PEEP THE REST OF THE CREW!
HERE:
MIC JORDAN, POOR, and N.O.N.

MY PEOPLE by NOME NOMADD featuring TRIBE OF LEVI

Another sure shot. Nome Nomadd represents well as does the Tribe. Real subject matter and a refreshing view about what Hip-Hop  really means.

I'd like to thank MIC JORDAN for blessing us with his thoughts and I do know I'll be seeing this man again. It's been quite a long while, but it's also encouraging to see how time passes and we all continue to evolve.
Much love to Sacramento Hip-Hop and Tribe of Levi
Peace and Respect,
12:51
P.S.
From MIC,"I actually have a song on the new Tribe album where I'm rapping in French
here is a German website where you can illegally download it, LOL."

WHAT IT MEANS featuring SADAT X

HEY YOU featuring BRU LEI

Quoi d'neuf? OLIGARSHIIIT!!!

Hey all!
I'm here to promote some music today. A new featuring I'm involved in just dropped about a few weeks ago and I'm glad to share it here.
I met OLIGARSHIIIT in the summer while playing a show on a boat in a canal. Coincidentally the proprietors were cool enough to let my two dogs attend the show at no charge! Everybody brought excellent energy, crowd included, and it marked the start of what would become the THE LIVING ROOM SOUNDSYSTEM. Big up JOSTEREO!
We hadn't previously met before, but hit it off well.
OLIGARSHIIIT is the effective combination of DooDS, ENZ, and TEDJI
All pillars in the Hip-Hop scene, they formed together like Voltron about  years ago and to great effect!

Not long after the unbelievable boat show (Big up TAKE N SHAKE and La Dame de Canton),
I met with DooDs and Tedji intending only to be included on a featuring on DooDs upcoming solo.
Well, hours later, I ended up featuring on both this new OLIGARSHIIIT project, and DooDs' project, which is certain to drop in the near future.
Great guys, great vibes, lively stage show, and awesome synchronization chez Jurassic 5. In fact they just did a tour over in Quebec, which shows you that the French Hip-Hop community is not only in France and is in NO way small.
So here it is:

I'm also going to set you up with some good videos which will give you the true school vibe that these three royal emcees bring.

DooDS

The "original" indeed! Great example of DooDS unique flow paired with upcoming producer Qiwu of The Qiwu Selftet :) Good vibes and true school Hip-Hop at it's smoothest.

ENZ

ENZ has gained some notoriety in the French Hip-Hop scene over the years, consistently bringing tasty content in a laidback flavor. Here we have another example of the mastery of smooth and command of the mic.

TEDJI

TEDJI brings an true school flavor but definitely flipped up for modern times. I find he is not afraid to switch up the patterns where he sees fit and that is what makes him unique.
So there it is OLIGARSHIIIT. Even if you don't understand French (I'm no closer now than a few years ago), you can feel the skill level and mastery of microphone without a doubt. Plus, come now, the choice of production is great; a perfect fit. Three kings.
Best of luck to you three and also let's continue to build.
BONUS

TAKE N SHAKE FLASHBACK
Props to Oligarshiiit, David Doe, Hakim Doe, Take n Shake, Kalash, The Babtoo, Jostereo, Le Dame de Canton, fans, Otis the dalmatian, Kaya the mixed breed, Jiputchan, everyone who attended, and the Paris Hip-Hop scene!
Peace and as always respect,

You smell me?

Okay step the funk back.

Man we gotta clear the air.
Need some water.

Different funk for different folks.

These are my ideas, feel free to comment and give feedback on what you consider funky.
Any funky words are encouraged. I happen to appreciate funk in all it's forms; old, new, and all funk in between. It's your world, funk with it.

Keep it funky,

back into the loop..

Slowly but surely internet has begun to bring me back to my digging greatness. I used to spend too much time finding new, but the love never left I guess.

Getting back into the swing of things fo sho'! Thanks to all my friends and fellow music appreciators for pulling me back into the loop..

Here's hoping all of you find that fire again. The times make it harder and the pace is infinitely faster, but keep moving. Stand still, you lose.

Motivational Vibes

Motivational vibrations for your weekend.

Peace and good travels, even if you're sitting still....you aren't.
12:51

Art.

Sounds.

Something different.

Different methods of THINK

Revisiting Ab-Soul. A unique style featuring personal tales but entwining esoteric knowledge with that Hip-Hop well intact. Finally a writer's writer.

How about something different. This should have you thinking. Big up Wormhole from the NEW COCOON and ANTHROPOWORKS collectives. Big Worm has been very busy crafting tons of material that will have you both nodding and concentrating, sometimes barely grasping, at a unique style that really is superhuman. Contact him RIGHT HERE.

A little UK perspective. Simple enough to make you think, but with a fresh perspective attached.
Honest.

To be honest, I haven't been in the current loop since 1991. Illmatic will always remain a standard, but, glimpses of what brought you there the first time, often have a way of teasing you toward the future and the changes that await. The past is very comforting, but the future is what you need to make a past.
Not a fan of the production, but the lyrics really come clever, with the standard "must-know" references and a steady rhythm for the listener to really join in.

That's 3for3 plus one bonus.
Peace and Respect,
12:51

FUNK WIT ME.

Right about now, you should be working on your uprock, lowrock, and footwork.
Peace and as always Respect,

Everyday

Today is filled with random sounds, not unlike everyday, eh?
Enjoy and continue supporting what you believe in.

What if there was an Aphex triplet?

What if Damu took 40 steps?

What about sunny Sundays?

Who is saying anything more real than Ab-Soul?
